Stage design (also known as scenography, set design, or production design) is the creation of theatrical, as well as film or concert scenery. Stage design is essentially the profession and process of planning and creating the scenery for each location in a performance’s action. This is not done as a solo project by one individual, but as a collaborative effort between the scenographer, who is responsible for the completed stage designs, the director, and other key people responsible for planning the action, lighting, set construction and set placement.
